I Love You Grandma!

Today is the 24th Anniversary of the passing on of my Maternal Grandmother, Mary Bernice "Bernie" McVay Finneran.  I am her namesake and this is a picture of myself, my college roommate Donna Lee, and Bernie and her dog "Angel" sitting on Bernie's front porch in Franklinton.

impermanence and luck o' the irish....

For years I heard my Mom talk of this glass stir stick that was "somewhere in that room"  meaning her old bedroom, now a solid storage area.  It had been given to her by someone long ago that told her that it was made by "Einstein's glassmaker" and might be worth something if we could ever find it.
So naturally after my Mom passed on, it was I who had been given the task of going through her stuff. I wondered for the entire time if I would ever find it and yesterday I did.  It was (no lie) in the very last corner of the room, in the very last box or bag or purse to go through. It wasn't even wrapped, but lay inside a purse alongside another box with a tiny teddy bear , but I digress.  It was a personal epiphany that I would find it and see finally that it was a swizzle stick with a dog on top.
So after I found it, I laid it on top of another one of my Moms purses on a shelf, for safe keeping until I could quit sorting for a while and move it.  Middle aged brain forgot and moved the purse and broke the legendary stir stick into 3 pieces and 2 tiny shards.
Somewhere in heaven, my Mother is laughing , I am sure. And a personal epiphany to see, once again, everything changes, nothing is permanent.
The artist in me wants to take it to a glass blower to get her/him to artistically fuse it back together with a heavenly blue morning glory climbing up the stem towards the dog. Whattya think?
