More Oregon Checker Mallow

This is the top of a very old Douglas Fir.

I have been finding several lately.

Today I got to drive out to Detroit Lake State Park.

I will do a Natural History program there next month so I went

out to scope out the site.

This is a view of Mt. Jefferson which is in the Cascade Range in Oregon.

This lake is the dammed up North Santiam River.

It was beautiful.

Some tiny Tiger Lilies (inch across) that just bloomed in the meadow above the "Dog-run-free" area

I have been thinking alot about the camera that I use to blog most of these pictures . It is my Tracphone cell phone camera and just a step above the $15.00 mini-digital cam that I started out with. The irony is that the cell phone also cost $15.00 from Dollar General in Florida and I can talk on it to people all over the usa.

Both cameras take polaroid quality pictures and I really like them for their simplicity. From time to time I find access to a really nice smallish digital name brand camera and have temporary camera-lust.

Lately a new friend has been teasing me with the possibility of the i-phone and I have pondered briefly leaving pc kingdom to crossover (albeit just for music and photos) to the land of Macfolk.

It is a funny line to cross, me being the proud Luddhite and that little toy teasing me with the ability to hear the latest folk , bluegrass, newgrass, jamband and acoustic music...on demand. And such a nice camera. These are the toys that we justify.

I am loving life here in the Pacific NW and also know that I will return to Ohio for as long as I am needed there , come October. This whole "strange trip" has been yet another remembering of the fact that we always gravitate towards like- minded folks and that which we most love. I have been playing Harmonica again and it is sweet ,sweet therapy.

This was a cool little garden niche I saw on Water Street in Silverton
yesterday. It was a mirror placed flat on the ground but had the effect
(with the blue of the sky) of a small pond amidst alot of succulants and other flowers.
