More Mary Oliver....
“to live in this world
you must be able
to do three things
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go...”

| "Fisher on the Bank" Acrylic on Thrift Store Canvas Annie B. Siemer |
"It has always been a happy thought to me that the creek runs on all night, new every minute, whether I wish it or know it or care, as a closed book on a shelf continues to whisper to itself its own inexhaustible tale. So many things have been shown so to me on these banks, so much light has illumined me by reflection here where the water comes down, that I can hardly believe that this grace never flags, that the pouring from ever-renewable sources is endless, impartial, and free.”

A painting after a show....
The year was 2008.July 12th To be exact.*
I had just gone through the trauma of having witnessed first hand, nearly fatal domestic violence done to the lover of a co-worker who was in the process of divorcing her physically and psychologically abusive husband.
The night this happened my supposed supervisor was nowhere to be found
And came back eventually toxic from drugs and alcohol.
The next day I drove this gas guzzling monster to the Bart station in Daly City and eventually found my way to a SF art museum where a showing of Frida Kahlo paintings were featured.
For whatever reason. I was immediately handed a free pass.
I had seen her paintings in books and movies but seeing these in person went way beyond profound influence.
Afterward I drove back to the Lighthouse via Stage Road in San Gregorio and stopped at an old overlook near Pescadero and painted this.
Later a German Hosteller dude took this picture of my art.
I always did want to learn how to surf.
Later before driving it all the way back to Ohio, I painted over the surfer.
Big white puffy clouds. Thunderheads like the ones in Ohio and ubiquitous here, now.
That there was one of the starts of the fermentation of my own PTSD.
Thank God/dess Great Spirit , All-That-Is.....I am healing still.
Thanks to living in the digital age, surfer dudette rides again.....and again....and again. All is All Y'all!
