Yesterday I drove across the middle of the state headed to the Sanford Orlando International Airport to retrieve my Dad who had spent his summer on a mountain in Tennessee. Upon hearing about his 2 to 3 hour delay...I decided to follow signs leading me to "Historic Sanford" and what I found was serendipitous to say the least.
This town is up there now on my list with DeLand nearby, as it has a plethora of beautiful old and repurposed buildings, a vibrant arts community, murals , brewpubs and alot of other things that I crave and love discovering......people walking everywhere of all colors, running, biking. Outlets to recharge electric cars. There seems to have been yet another attempt to beautify the mundane...a project that allowed artists to paint or otherwise decorate boring public works boxes and such.
It's been a while since I have been able to travel and take pictures of things that I love...so I was for once glad that I had to pass time to endure a late flight.
Here are some pictures of a few things that I saw. I also Love murals...and found a really beautiful one hidden in an alley..that I tried to capture with my little flip phone...in sections. I hope to return there at some point to explore furthermore . And oh yeah...it has an abundance of old Bungelows and Craftsmen era houses....my favorite!
