700th Club

Marian Wright Edelman

This is my official 700th blog. So if you are reading this you are a member of a very special club called the 700th club. I have been writing this blog thingy for 4 years now.

I just heard one of the most amazing speeches and shared conversations I have every heard in my adult life on the radio show "Smiley and West" on Friday nights here in Columbus. I had never heard of nor heard the amazing oration of one, Marian Wright Eddleman. Wow is all I can say.

Smiley is Tavis Smiley who I have listened to for years when I am in the range of a radio station that plays him. I have just recently been catching his incredible collaboration with
Dr. Cornell West. I am very inspired by hearing the words of both, always. They had Marian Wright Edleman on as a guest. I am floored and now want to learn more about her. Man, the woman can orate!
I am just really happy that I am alive at the same time as these 3 African American Leaders and can hear them on this radio station wcbe. http://www.wcbe.org/
Now I am listening to another of my favorite things about wcbe...they carry American Routes every Friday. Later on tonight I will be lulled to sleep by Hearts of Space. In other words, I can't live without public radio. Please say something to folks who are in power about the gift and necessity of public radio, or better yet pledge y'all. If you've never heard wcbe you really should.
