Oh this is one of the hardest blog entries for me to write and I have wanted to do it for a few weeks now . This entry is in honor of this tree. I have walked by it many times this winter, spring and summer. I reckoned it to be over a hundred years old, maybe even more. At first I mistook it for a cottonwood and then as soon as the leaves appeared, I knew it was a really old oak. I thought that this tree had seen alot of changes on this corner, on the far west side of Columbus, just off of the "Old 40". In the background you can see the orange barriers of the deconstruction of a hotel. I knew they were making a new road but never did I think that they would cut down this old beautiful tree. Well, they did. It stands no more. I am weary of these city people. The older I get, the more sensitive I seem to be to all plants and animals. I will surely miss this tree.
